Would like to make one of these beautiful storytelling aprons for yourself?
Together with Mia Faulks, one of the team leaders from Silkwood’s Heart and Hands Craft Group, we will be teaching how to make these amazing storytelling aprons on Saturday March 24th at Finger Prints Children’s Centre.
This apron can be worn to create the landscape for the stories you tell to your children. You can wear it sitting on the floor, allowing the shining silky folds to flow around you for your characters to move around as the story unfolds. You can also wear it sitting in a chair, with the silk cascading down to the ground while you tell a story with some puppets in your lap.
For independent use, the apron can be set up on a chair or a stand and the children can use it themselves to create their own stories.
The bib of the apron will be a hand-felted landscape with some useful pockets to keep treasures, puppets or surprises in for your story. Mia will show us how to hand-dye the beautiful silk part of the apron. Then it is a simple matter to hand-stitch the two together for endless story possibilities.
