Random Rumi #7

You think to make your living from tailoring,

but then somehow money comes in

through goldsmithing,

which had never entered your mind.

I don’t know whether the union I want will come

through my effort, or my giving up effort,

or from something completely separate

from anything I do or don’t do.

I wait and fidget and flop about

as a decapitated chicken does, knowing that

the vital spirit has to escape this body

eventually, somehow!

This desire will find an opening
